About me

My name is Jim Warnock (trail name – Tater). I explore the Ozarks by trail and like to carry a camera. On this blog I’ll share pictures and thoughts related to wherever the trails may lead.  You’ll also find a few thoughts from my dog, Hiker. Our goal is to inspire you to lace up your hiking shoes and head into the woods. My trail guide, Five-Star Trails: The Ozarks, is a good tool for exploring the Ozarks. It’s available at Amazon and Barnes and Nobel. I love local book stores, so tell your favorite place for books to stock it.

  4. Hello! I just found your blog through Google! I was wondering…how are the Ozarks January through April? Is there a lot of snowfall? (I am possibly going to be in southern Missouri, and I love hiking.) Any thoughts would be appreciated!

I’m going to read a ton more of your posts now! 🙂

  5. As a “short haul” hiker, (<10 miles per hike), I know I will enjoy reading about your hiking adventures. I winter in Arizona so I am familiar with a number of hiking trails mostly in Maricopa County (Phoenix area). Thanks for stopping by and following my travel and photo blog.

I hope our paths cross someday. I’m a photographer and painter of the Ozarks. I lived in Paris, AR for twelve years half way up Mount Magazine, but I’m in St Louis now. You can see my art and blog at my website below.
