I’m proud of the second edition of my trail guidebook, Five Star Trails: The Ozarks, published in 2026.

The first edition (pictured below along with Hiker-dog’s rescue story, Gift From the Ozarks) was well received so it was an honor to work on this new edition.

Changes include ten new trails, updated route information in the trail descriptions, many new photos, and full color illustrations throughout.

I’m thankful that Hiker-dog was still here to hike trails for this edition. She’s getting older but still loves getting out on the trails.

Thank you to my friend and photographer, Eric Scowden, for capturing the author and book cover photos. You might notice that Hiker-dog and I have matching gray beards.
